LONE STAR KAYAKS PAYMENT, ORDERING, SHIPPING, AND RETURN POLICY

Congratulations on purchasing one of our kayaks.  It is our pleasure to get you this kayak as quickly, affordably, and safely, as reasonably possible.  Please read this section thoroughly concerning payment and returns.  We have developed this set of guidelines to provide you with specific information that can assist the payment, ordering, shipping, and return process.  

Shipping:

There are three ways we ship.

1.  We ship to major U.S. cities via airfreight.  Shipping rates are $75-$95 depending on the kayak shipped. Malibu Kayaks ship for $75 to all terminals listed in map below and the link here.  Check the locations of those terminals here.  Crescent and Emotion Kayaks will run $95 when using this route.

2.  Shipping to a business address will run $95 for all kayaks in all states except California, Oregon, and Washington.

3.  California, Washington, and Oregon freight rates will run $75-$95 to major city airport terminals.  Business addresses in California, Washington, and Oregon will run $139.

4.  Additional shipping charges may apply, so please stay in contact with us.

Lone Star Kayaks ships only to freight terminals and business addresses.  Residential delivery is not an option with the cost of fuel and freight company charges.  

1.  A phone number for the shipping company to contact you.

2.  A business address.  This cannot be a home business.  It must be a physical business, such as a restaurant, insurance agency, barber shop, or general office building. 

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THIS PARAGRAPH.   Lone Star Kayaks is not responsible for products damaged in shipping.   The shipping process begins once we receive final payment or clearance of payment for your order.  Some of our kayaks are shipped directly from the manufacturing plant to you.  It is important that you examine the kayak for shipping damage prior to signing any form waiving the shipping company of liability.  Once you have signed the shipping form accepting delivery, any damage associated with shipping cannot be recovered by you as a buyer, or by Lone Star Kayaks as a seller.  Signing this form is an agreement that the product is in a condition you find satisfactory to the purchasing agreement with Lone Star Kayaks.  Lone Star Kayaks will not refund, provide partial credit, or partial refunds for kayaks damaged in shipping once you have signed the form accepting delivery of the kayak.   Lone Star Kayaks is not responsible for damage in shipping.  If you have signed the form and discover that there is damage to the kayak, you may discuss this with the shipping company.  If there is shipping damage, please notify the shipping company immediately and DO NOT SIGN THE FORM!   IF THERE IS SHIPPING DAMAGE, YOU NEED TO NOTE THAT ON THE BILL OF LADING.  ONCE THE FORM IS SIGNED, YOU ARE WAIVING LONE STAR KAYAKS FROM ANY DAMAGE ASSOCIATED WITH SHIPPING, UNLESS YOU HAVE NOTED IT ON THE FORM.

This will allow us to give you a final cost on your shipping.  We will need this information before you will have a final shipping total.  Shipping goes to a freight terminal in your area, or a business address. A business address cannot be a home business.  We will provide you with the location, freight company name, and tracking number of your order.  Normal delivery is approximately 2 weeks from time of final payment clearance to point of delivery.  

 

Payment and Ordering:

 

You may pay for your order through several options:

1) Send a check or money order to:

2) Use Paypal and address the payment to:

3) Send a wire transfer.  If you choose this route, please contact us for the bank routing number.

We prefer a check or money order since it cuts down the cost of paying fees associated with Paypal and Wire Transfers.

 

Returns:

Lone Star Kayaks will accept returns up to 7 days after the purchase of a kayak.  Buyer pays full cost of return shipping and is responsible for any damage in return shipping.  In addition, Lone Star Kayaks will charge a 15% restocking fee plus any normal and exceptional wear and tear depreciation resulting from use of kayak.  Normal wear and tear reductions are equivalent to the per day rental fee average.  

The average cost per day for rental is:

  • $30 per day for a solo kayak
  • $35 for a tandem kayak.  
  • Paddles are $6 per day
  • PFD's are $8 per day
  • Kayak seats are $10 per day.  

We will reduce the refund for the kayak on the number of days the kayak was owned by the buyer.  For example, if someone receives the kayak on Monday and returns the kayak on Friday, he/she will have the kayak in possession for 5 days.  We will deduct $30 per day X 5 days = $150 for total normal wear and tear cost.  If paddles are also in possession, then we will deduct the paddle wear and tear at $6 per day X 5 days = $30.  

If there is exceptional wear and tear, then those damages will be estimated and the total cost of those damages will be reduced from the total.  For example, what if a buyer fails to secure the kayak on his roof rack and the kayak flips off the top of a car and is ripped apart on the road?    

In this case, we will deduct the number of days the owner has held possession of the kayak and add the damages from the abuse resulting from use of the kayak.

The policies are designed to avoid any miscommunications and to get you a quality kayak that you can use for your adventures.
